Book-Giving Day 2015

Yesterday was International Book- Giving Day! We were delighted to celebrate International Book Giving Day on Friday with our friends by having a book swap, sharing stories and doing crafts.  It was a fun way to celebrate giving and sharing with friends and a great alternative to Valentine’s Day, or in addition to …?

The crew behind International Book Giving Day invited individuals to:
1) gift a book to a friend or family member,
2) leave a book in a waiting room for children to read
3) donate a gently used book to a local library, hospital or shelter or to an organisation that distributes used books to children in need internationally.
In addition, they encourage people to support the work of nonprofit organisations (i.e. charities) that work year round to give books to children.

Our whole week was inspired by books and stories; from Peter Rabbit soup, to a great bear hunt, to hungry-caterpillar inspired fruit kebabs. The kids had fun listening to Iman read the books, and they were super-excited to swap books. I wrapped each book for an element of surprise.

A big thanks to everyone who helped out.
