...and we're back

...at least I think we are.
It is true that your whole life can be summed up by material objects.
We have had some great daycare days, but we also had a some not so good days too.
Our computer got a virus, and we are still recovering from that. I cannot believe how much of my business...my photos...my life is on my computer. And to make matters worse, I lost a whole bunch of files a few weeks ago from my Google docs.

A wonderful parent is going to see what can be recovered of my thousands of photos. I hope that they will not all be lost...

We have lots of catching up to do; nonetheless, it's good to be back.

See you soon!

Baking: dirt & mud cupcakes (book of month activity)

22.3.15 4 comments

This baking session was based on our book of the month, Preschool to the Rescue by Judy Sierra and Will Hillenbrand. Read about the book here and then you will understand why mud and dirt cupcakes fit right into our theme.

The boys started out in the kitchen with me, but decided that playing would be more fun than baking, so I was all by my lonesome.  They came back in the end to decorate their  cupcakes though.
The cupcakes were a hit (of course), and I'm sorry I didn't get pictures of our chocolate pudding-faced kids. Maybe next time!

Ingredients
1 chocolate cake mix
1 can chocolate frosting
24 gummy worms, each one cut into 2 pieces
1 chocolate pudding mix (4 serving box)
1 1/2 c. milk

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350* Prepare cake mix according to box. Fill liners 3/4 full and bake 18-20 minutes. Cool.
  2. While cupcakes are cooling, whisk the pudding mix and milk for 2 minutes. Refrigerate until set.
  3. Cut/scoop a small part out of the top of each cupcake.
  4. Let the kids fill each hole with a scoop of pudding mixture...fill with crumbled cake mix.
  5. Push gummy worm halves into the (dirt) aka crumbled cake mix.
  6. Keep refrigerated.

crazy pizza craft (book of the month activity)

20.3.15 1 comments

The last 2 baking days in March will focus on our book of the month, Preschool to the Rescue by Judy Sierra and Will Hillenbrand. Read about the book here.
The kids are going to have a pizza party next week. I figured we would do our craft on our quiet day as making pizzas, and napping schedules will probably be an issue.

the baby's baby blanket

I have a knitting thing. The thing is that I can't finish a project. I get bored- painfully bored. It doesn't help that I am relatively new to this knitting thing.

Three weeks ago, Moonface and I had a few squabbles. She kept stealing my dish towels to cover/wrap her baby up. I would take it back, and she would run after me, often screaming. Big brother told me that she would like to have as a blanket...I'm sure if she could speak she would have told me the same thing.

We went to the store, and picked up some materials...it was quite over-priced for a baby's baby blanket. I should have gone to the Thrift store, or just use some scraps, BUT, at least I will have my dish towels.

At first it was very difficult to work with this material. I had 3 false starts, but I'm getting close.
