Pizza day

31.5.15 0 comments
Friday (at least for the next 3 months) is our pizza day. We've made pizzas before, but incorporating it into our schedule will mean a little trial and error...like size of pizzas, toppings and quantities. Now that I am growing my own herbs, I hope that we will be able to use some of those very soon.
I've learnt that not everything is going to be a welcomed activity - to just go with the flow. One child isn't really interested in making his own just yet...and one is quite young and will not likely be eating the pizza anyway...everything in its time. I also have to make sure that next time we have whole wheat  "crust".
This number is for 3 kids, and of course there will be veggies on the side.

Weekending May 25-29th

We had quite the week! Sometimes I feel so exhausted at the end of the day, but I look back at  the photos of our days and I think, it was so worth it! I hope I will feel this way for a long time.

Here is a recap of our days spent together - both inside and out...
The kids had a great week. The weather was up and down, but that didn't stop us.

We are also transitioning into our new daily rhythm, with Wednesdays being our day to do gardening and spend our day outside as much as possible.
Soup day is now on Thursdays.

The little ones built bridges
...watched for the garbage truck
...and made a tasty summer veggie salad.

My first student "baby" is now 17 and is getting set for university. She received a nice card & gift as a graduation present from one of our daycare friends decorated with cool dinosaurs...so sweet! Thank you!

See if you can find some of the notes in our photos...
We hope you had a great week, oh, and good bye to the month of May!

The best green smoothie...ever

29.5.15 1 comments
This smoothie helped me detox years ago after a difficult pregnancy and tragic child-birth. It's not my favorite. It's not delicious per se (imo); and sometimes (if it's really early in the morning) I don't even want to look at it...but it's got all the right stuff, and that's what matters.
This smoothie is said to help  calm the nervous system- something I need as I am on a strict diet. But I also like to give it to the kids because it's loaded with beta carotene, antioxidants, , chlorophyll, essential fatty acids, iron, vitamins B, K & E, and it helps to boost the immune system - which is always a good thing.

Ingredients
2-3 kale leaves
1handful of parsley leaves
1 bunch celery
1 lemon
1 lime
fresh ginger
handful of green apple slices
(I added half a banana to the kids' mix)

Directions
Place all the ingredients in blender or juicer.
Enjoy!
