a birthday...4 years around the sun

We had our first birthday of the autumn season - you'll be surprised how many we have :)
I am trying not to set the bar too high lol, so that all the kids will have the same experience for their birthdays. I will see how that goes as I think that age does make a bit of a difference - we will definitely see.

We always have our celebrations/activities in the AM, because most of the kids are awake, and at 10 o'clock in the morning, what can really go wrong?! This time however, the b-day boy who is now in preschool, arrived at lunchtime, so we delayed celebrations 'til PM snack.

Our friend is not a fan of cake, and I hadn't gotten my gluten-free self together yet, so I was quite happy actually that chocolate pudding was a great and welcomed b-day treat. I thought about putting a candle, but I don't know if I will use candles at all, as some of the kids might get scared.

We read the funny book Pie in the Sky by Bruce Balan. The kids loved this one (it was a bit long though). For some reason, after we read Pie in the Sky, they wanted more stories; so we ended up reading 3 more books.

It was a good day.

I have quite a few pics, but I would have to literally block out all the faces, so I am adding the ones that I didn't have to do too much editing on...

Weekending Sept 21-25th

This is the last week of our dino mania...it has been fun.
We enjoyed some outside time, we painted, made pizza and had a lot of open play this week, as we are transitioning into our new autumn schedule. We also didn't get outside as much (for long periods pf time) because every child had a runny nose, or some symptoms of a cold - not pretty!

September was pretty fun for us, but it was also hard. We are fully transitioning, and as I suspected; it will take at least 3 months to get used to our new routine(s).
Happy weekend everyone!

We had quite a busy week. The highlight of our week was the dino themed party - fun times.
We also started focusing on our french lessons...it's basic, and I'm striving for fun, although the idea of "fun" is pretty relative.
We tried on our new birthday crowns...we have a b-day coming up at the end of the month, and more to follow.
We did music/drumming and art- our week was full.
...not that different from the other weeks.
Happy weekend!

Our August book of the month was Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp by Carol Diggory Shields. I have to thank my good friend over at EZKids for gifting this book to our dayhome. What a lovely surprise :)

I did not make a mistake when I noted the book was our August read. It just happens that August almost didn't happen for us, and we really wanted to do some dinosaur related activities, so we made it our September book of the month as well. Skipping the dinosaur dig was a bummer, but this was just as good. I think the kids will agree we had a roaring good time...

I'll let the pictures do the talking
they each got to keep the dino on their mud cake
they coloured their favorite dinos

some party favours

I also want to thank Iman for gifting us the treats and favors \;\0
