Hello all! Geez, I really have been absent from our little space more than ever, haven't I?
My camera is officially out of commission (insert tearful emoji here). This is the second time I've had an issue with my camera and I haven't even had it for a year and a half. This time around I'm getting an Error 01 code, and no amount of research or attempts to fix it has been disappointed in your camera Canon!

I do have my phone, which obviously is not a problem for taking photos, but I guess I'm stuck in my ways. I actually still have a few shots on my camera phone from Easter. I am pretty bad with uploading from my phone which is probably why I don't bother taking photos in the first place.

We had a good week last week. Those short weeks can be difficult though. The kids were really tired.
It has been quiet in many ways. I think the weather has affected their moods. They play very well, but some afternoons, they are beat, and mostly sit and read /look at books :)

The children are also developing strong personalities and vocabulary, which generally spills over into different types of conflict. Not at all bad, when you realize they have to go out into the big world of classrooms and playgrounds very soon. It's just so interesting, and sometimes comical to watch. And of course, sometimes this fight for independence  and autonomy is directed (in not so good ways) towards yours truly. Still comical at times.

Have a great week...or what's left of it!

How was your Easter holiday? The kids are still exchanging Easter greetings with each other after not seeing each other for a few days- which is so sweet.

Thursday (our last day before our little break) came and went without much excitement. I'm sad to say unlike this year and this year, we didn't get to celebrate spring in the park, and have our Easter egg hunt because it was snowing.

I still can't believe our luck, but I had a feeling this would happen.
In addition to the not so nice weather, some of our friends were also not feeling great, so it was actually a very quiet day for us.

Over all, we had a nice week, and I think the snow is gone (?) One can never tell.
I will have to share our story of the month post soon. There are some photos missing. Must be on another card. Seems I can't keep track of myself lately.

Thanks to everyone for our basket fillers:
MB- raisins
EG - windmills/pinwheels
MM- seeds & pencils
LE - Ester craft/activity pack
HA- apple sauce snacks
ZA- mandarins

Have a great week everyone!

MB...3 years around the sun

Why can't I believe that MB is 3 years old? It really seems like yesterday that she was coming into my home. She's the most relaxed baby I ever had. She was and still is a girl who is so good with structure- it's amazing. She is also the only baby that never cried. From day one I took her from mom and she really just went with the flow.

When you are a mom of many, every milestone is worth celebrating. I will never replace moms and dads here; it's not my goal. But there are boo boos to tend to, nap schedules to keep, hungry mouths to feed, and of course, minds to fill. There's been a lot of sighing on my part lately. Watching these kids grow up has been a blessing...

So JM went off to preschool. There were loads of tears. We miss him very much; but we know that he's still having fun and meeting new friends which is what it is all about.
Our days continue...we celebrated a special princess turning 3. I cried that day too. Seems I'm just a bag of tears lately, but my babies are growing up and it's hard to see that.
1/ she's pretending to lead circle time
2/ little mama
3&4/ it's literally all about water play
5/ ...when a special girl turns 3

Have a lovely week everyone!

Oh what a difference a little sunshine makes. Time spent outside always fulfills me. We had a lovely week, spending most of our days outside. We hope you had a great week.

Well hello there. The children and I are all getting better, thanks to warmer days, and a lot of rest. I cannot express how happy I am to see sunshiny days. Most days I have to turn the thermostat waaay down ...I am ready for the sun...bring it on.

We have had many days filled with open play, but I think the warmer weather will get us outside. Also, our littlest baby is not so little anymore, so when she's ready to give up her morning naps, the dynamics of our days will also change.
I don't pick up the camera as much these days. Hoping to change that as well.
1/ spring nature set up underway
2/ 2 friends made me breakfast...even promised me coffee :)
3/ baby's ready for a nap

It's been a while hasn't it? We've been an unlucky bunch. For weeks we have seen illness go around and around. The cycle has not yet ended but we are hopeful. I am hoping that Spring will bring much sunshine, warmth and comfort back into our home.

Enjoy the sunshine!

My camera was acting up lat week so I didn't  get any real pictures of our activities. For some reason, the photos that actually came out were 99% food shots(?)...I can't make sense of it :)
It was a rough week for some of our friends who got sick. I think everyone is on the mend now (thankfully).
Last week we baked, ate, read stories, and played. It was pretty low key.
Here's hoping for a better week.

It was quite the week. We celebrated book-giving day, had fun in and outside, made a craft & did some colouring, and then some of us got sick..which was so not fun.

We also enjoyed and tried some new foods like:
gluten-free banana muffins
chocolate chip cookies made w/ molasses
a different kind of quinoa salad

On Sunday a few of our friends attended the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra's Sundays for Kids. The lucky bunch got to watch a production of The Hockey Sweater - based on the popular literacy classic by Roch Carrier. I didn't get a chance to go, due to illness, and a few of our friends were also at home sick, or with sick children, if you can believe it. I was lucky enough to send Big Boy with MM's mom, so it wasn't a total fail, but Z was sick as well.

As I type this, I have a bag full of toys from our play centre that need to be's like the weekend never happened :(
I hope that we can get our books to the Children's Cottage this week, or early next week- almost everyone in my family is under the weather.
Other than that, life goes on, as usual. Happy Monday!
Finally, can you/should you force children to meditate? Lately, there have been high emotions among the children in just about everything. They have little, but frequent squabbles with each other. One doesn't want to sit on the potty; another doesn't like the idea of circle on a particular day; food issues; tired issues.

I've been literally calling mini (impromptu) meditation sessions, both for them, and for my own mental health. I think if more dayhome providers spoke about their days, while they would seem mundane, you will find the ever elusive idea of finding balance and keeping one's sanity. Just a thought!
