Soup day + changes

The soup day changes went off without a hitch. I appreciate everyone remembering the soup day contributions on Monday. We had some interesting items to add to the pot, and the kids are learning not only to try new things, but that many ingredients can go together to make a delicious meal.
The children didn't chop or spoon, or wash any ingredients, but they had important work to do. JM, my helper got a little help from HA to bring the basket of ingredients to the kitchen. As your child grows older and more capable, you will find they have different tasks and responsibilities throughout our day(s).

The children gathered around for some quick learning - what each ingredient was, colour, texture (by feel not taste) and so on. JM brought green lentil, MB added snow peas, HA added an apple (very interesting take on soup day), LE brought us a red bell pepper, ZA went for the herb basket (as mama would) and added some fresh parsley.
Salma added chicken and potato, thyme, and basil, and made a delicious green lentil chicken soup. It was quite an interesting mix.
I will  be adding this recipe to the Recipes page very soon...

“A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank…but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child.”
