We are knee deep into winter, even though it's technically only been a few weeks since winter officially started. Some days the snow is being shovelled, not once but twice. It's cold too.
So we've been speaking a lot about l'hiver (winter)...the lovely parts of it, like ice patterns on our windows, and icicles so long and pointed. We call them silver swords. We are using our other senses as well; looking up at the trees finding glistening trails of ice, and no leaves...where are the leaves we ask?
We also hear birds chirping...not many but some.
And some of our friends are tasting the snow...ewww, but anyways.

We still play our songs after breakfast...even some Christmas ones are in the mix.
Walks in nature usually make for a great excuse to pick up and carry home treasures like pinecones, leaves, and sticks :). And of course we read books - lots of them. Mostly about snow, and the seasons, but also about other things too.
We are enjoying treats around the big table, often eaten at storytime. That's pretty magical in any season actually. So here's to being snowed in...just for a little bit anyway.
