Falling into Art: Comptine des couleurs d'automne Part 2

23.10.19
As we descend deeper into fall, the children and I continue to speak about the changes that are happening all around us.  We revisited the discussion from the week before about all the changes that happen in each season (we are focusing on autumn of course), and how it is all connected.

This week we are discussing temperate forest communities. Temperate means "mild". In temperate forest communities, summers are not too hot, and winters are not too cold. In spring, wild flowers bloom, then the trees and bushes begin to bud, moving into the summer season.

With these changes birds, squirrels, and many other small animals build homes and nests. They eat the fruits, berries, insects and nuts.

Autumn in many temperate forest communities is often mild. The leaves change colour. Most birds fly south for the winter, and many other small animals hibernate.

Running a nature program means that we incorporate nature in all aspects of our days. We always look forward to spending time playing outside with friends, experiencing the elements, and learning about the seasons.

How do you incorporate nature into your program or homeschool?
